Klaviyo vs Omnisend
A practical, evidence-led decision guide. Product capabilities and limits are separated from anything that would require hands-on testing.
Once a store has decided it needs ecommerce email automation, the useful comparison is the same audience, messages and operating requirements in both systems. Klaviyo and Omnisend publish store-oriented features, but an entry price or a temporary discount does not price your month.
This comparison uses an ordinary month and a busier one for 5,000 billable contacts. It then separates SMS from email. The figures are original workload calculations using dated public quotes, not measured campaign performance or a prediction of sales.
A monthly quote without the introductory discount
For Klaviyo, our 17 October 2026 browser capture used the UK pricing page with Marketing, 5,000 active profiles and USD selected, leaving optional products unchecked. For Omnisend, we selected the 4,501–5,000 contact range, USD and monthly billing on 18 October, with the upfront-payment promotion turned off.
| Selected email offer | Monthly USD price | Email allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Klaviyo Marketing, 5,000 active profiles | 100 | 50,000 |
| Omnisend Standard, 5,000 contacts | 81 | 60,000 |
| Omnisend Pro, 5,000 contacts | 90 | Unlimited, subject to fair-use conditions |
The Omnisend promotion shown on first loading was excluded. So were Klaviyo's optional products and first-month offer. The table does not include taxes, separately purchased SMS or integration work. It is a selected email quote, not a full procurement total.
At unchanged prices, Standard's USD19 monthly difference from the selected Klaviyo offer equals USD228 over twelve months. Pro's USD10 difference equals USD120. Those differences are small enough that an essential missing workflow or repeated manual reconciliation can outweigh them. No revenue increase is assumed.
Price your busiest sending month
Our regular month sends four campaigns to 5,000 permission-eligible contacts and two welcome messages to 500 people already included in that audience. Total: 21,000 sends. All three selected email allowances accommodate those numerical inputs.
Now raise the campaigns to twelve while retaining the same welcome sequence. The total becomes 61,000 sends. That is 11,000 above the selected Klaviyo allowance and 1,000 above Omnisend Standard's. Omnisend Pro's published unlimited allowance removes that particular numeric ceiling, subject to applicable service rules; it does not establish that every feature or message type is included.
Requote Klaviyo for that peak month, or establish the actual overage setting and charge. Omnisend's FAQ describes a plan-upgrade offer when Standard's email allowance is exceeded, with confirmation before the upgrade; do not assume an unpriced extra thousand emails simply goes through. The correct comparison is the plan and behavior you would actually accept during the busy month.
SMS is a second worksheet
Suppose 2,000 recipients receive two messages each, and each message occupies two billable segments. That is 8,000 segments. It is not necessarily 4,000 chargeable units, and it is not 8,000 emails.
Multiply those segments by the verified destination-country rate for your exact message type, then add any applicable number, carrier or service charges. This comparison intentionally supplies no universal dollar rate. A starting rate for one destination cannot establish another country's cost, and an email plan quote is not proof that SMS is free. Any included credits need their own eligible-country and expiry check.
Download the editable workload calculations. Keep the SMS subtotal visibly separate until the destination mix and applicable rates are known.
Align the people, then test the workflow
The 5,000-contact example assumes an aligned billable population. Klaviyo can bill active profiles that are not consenting newsletter subscribers. Suppression, email subscription and SMS permission must be reconciled in both systems before comparing real exports. Count records by the selected platform's rules; never reactivate unsubscribed people merely to make totals match.
For a buyer-run evaluation, choose permitted records representing a new customer, repeat purchaser, refund and unsubscribe. Define the message, audience and exit condition first. Ask whether the operator can explain each outcome, recover an export and reconcile reported orders against store records. An attribution dashboard is not proof that the platform caused those orders. BenPicks reports no completed product trial or deliverability test here.
Choose the provider whose actual integration and controls cover the store's difficult cases at a known cost. If the store does not yet need that level of automation, Klaviyo vs MailerLite asks the earlier, simpler buying question. The migration checklist covers the handoff once the shortlist is settled.
