MailerLite Alternatives
A practical, evidence-led decision guide. Product capabilities and limits are separated from anything that would require hands-on testing.
Before replacing MailerLite, finish this sentence: “We need to do ___, and our current plan cannot do it at a sensible cost.” If the answer is only “another tool has a bigger free number,” keep looking. Moving forms, consent records and automations can cost more than a year of modest subscription savings.
The shortlist below separates different jobs. It is based on current official documentation and existing BenPicks research, checked 17 October 2026. We have not compared inbox placement, conversion rates or support performance, and the order is not a product-quality ranking.
A shortlist by the problem you have
| Your reason to look elsewhere | Candidate to evaluate | What could rule it out |
|---|---|---|
| A creator newsletter needs a different audience-growth or commerce workflow | Kit or beehiiv | Paid automation, recommendation behavior or the publishing model does not fit |
| Campaign frequency makes the send allowance awkward | Moosend | Contact-band quote, workflow limits or migration effort erase the benefit |
| Marketing sits beside transactional or multichannel communication | Brevo | Separate quotas, contact storage or channel costs fail the actual brief |
| The team wants a different established newsletter process | AWeber | No demonstrable improvement over the current forms and follow-ups |
Kit and beehiiv deserve different trials: a creator sales journey is not the same brief as running a publication with recommendation and monetization tools. Review the specific paid feature you need. A free broadcast allowance does not prove that a purchase-triggered sequence or every monetization option is included.
First, check whether MailerLite already fits
MailerLite's current free plan covers 250 active subscribers and 2,500 monthly sends. Comfort's sending allowance is ten times the upper boundary of the paid subscriber tier. Power offers unlimited monthly sends subject to fair use. If the problem is one busy month, compare the appropriate MailerLite plan before assuming migration is necessary.
The pricing page now uses Comfort and Power. Older comparisons using different plan names or free limits may describe a legacy setup. Record the plan shown in your own account and the new-customer quote separately; a current selector is not proof of the rules applied to an old contract.
For the closest contact-led alternative, use MailerLite vs Moosend. For a creator-led change, use MailerLite vs Kit. Those pair comparisons go deeper into the two-product decision; this page helps decide which pair is worth your time.
Original scenario: the quiet publication
Imagine 8,000 eligible subscribers receiving two full-list newsletters a month, with no automated emails in this narrow example. You need 16,000 sends and storage for 8,000 people.
A subscriber-led plan prices the list even if you send infrequently. A volume-led quote still has to store the whole audience. Ask Brevo for both the send tier and storage ceiling; ask Moosend for the correct unique-contact band and whether its subscription or credit route fits the intended workflow. Do not equate a quoted send count with permission or capacity to store every contact.
Now increase frequency to eight newsletters. The same list needs 64,000 sends. You have changed one variable, but a send-led quote can react very differently. Use the email cost calculator with the actual feature requirements instead of declaring a universal cheaper provider.
Original scenario: the saving that arrives late
Assume a provider change saves $15 a month but takes six hours at an internal $35 hourly rate. The move costs $210 in labor and needs fourteen months of savings to recover that alone. Those are illustrative assumptions, not vendor quotes or measured migration time.
Rebuild one signup-to-purchase journey before approving the move. Check duplicate handling, suppression, interest changes, event mapping and removal from sales messages after a purchase. Then count all the forms, templates and integrations still to migrate. Do not use higher open rates alone as proof that the new provider earns more revenue.
Download the scenario inputs and break-even calculation. The migration checklist covers acceptance checks beyond importing a CSV.
When staying is the better decision
Stay if the current plan supports the required journeys, the audience data is clean and the proposed alternative offers no clear operational advantage. Switch when an unmet requirement survives a small evaluation and the full cost is acceptable. “More features” is not a requirement until someone can explain who will use them.
BenPicks has affiliate relationships with MailerLite, Moosend, beehiiv and AWeber. It currently has no active affiliate link for Kit or Brevo. Relevant commercial actions live on product profiles; commission availability does not control this shortlist.
