Good fit if

You can prove workflow value

  • The editor reduces research or revision time on a real assignment.
  • The recommendations improve coverage without encouraging repetition.
  • Your team can measure approved output, correction time and total cost.

Look elsewhere if

You only want a score

  • You cannot explain how recommendations affect publishing decisions.
  • Your volume does not justify a recurring subscription.
  • You need independently proven ranking or output-quality gains.

Open the complete SE Ranking buying analysisCore/Growth limits · regional checkout · keyword×target accounting · daily GEO prompts · two API meters · distinct output licenses · backup obligation

SE Ranking is a broad SEO and GEO operating suite. It can track traditional rankings, research competitors and backlinks, audit sites, produce content, manage reports, monitor local search, expose APIs and follow brand visibility in AI answers. That breadth is its strongest buying argument—and the reason a simple plan-price comparison is inadequate.

> Distinctive strength: An agency or in-house team can run rank tracking, research, audits, content work, local search and client reporting in one operating suite, then add AI Results tracking without rebuilding its reporting workflow. > > Where it stops being an advantage: Consolidation helps only when those workflows are genuinely shared; at least seven capacity pools, regional pricing and an optional AI layer make the headline plan price an unreliable cost forecast.

The buyer needs to model at least seven pools: projects, manager seats, keyword×search-engine targets, daily AI prompts, GEO-research domains, audited pages, content articles and API credits. The optional AI Search layer introduces another price and prompt allowance. A suite saves money only when the team uses enough of those layers to replace real tools or work.

Price is also regional. The current English source fetch shows USD, while an earlier independent review session received EUR. BenPicks therefore treats the amount as region-sensitive and requires the buyer's checkout before publication or schema use.

BenPicks has not operated a paid SE Ranking account for this profile. Current official pricing, help, API and June 2026 legal documents establish the facts below. Vendor rankings, scores and AI visibility are diagnostic evidence, not proof of business impact.

How much does SE Ranking cost?

The current English page displays:

PlanMonthlyAnnual effective monthlyProjectsManager seats
------:---:---:---:
Core$129$103.20101
Growth$279$223.20303
EnterpriseCustomCustomCustomCustom

The annual option advertises 20% savings and free migration. Effective monthly language does not mean monthly cancellation; confirm whether the full year is prepaid and how renewal works. The controlling terms say the customer chooses an available paid term after the 14-day trial and can cancel effective at the end of the current term.

The amount is not globally canonical. A prior live session showed EUR. The buyer should record currency, tax, billing cadence, renewal, add-ons and extra-unit rates in checkout. BenPicks does not emit a simplified `Offer` schema.

What is included in the 14-day trial?

The trial does not simply clone Core. Official pricing/help currently describes up to ten projects, 750 tracked keyword-targets per day, 20 AI prompts per day and GEO competitive research for three domains, with unlimited reports. No card is required.

Use the reduced limits to test workflow, not maximum volume. Build one representative project, one prompt set, one audit and one article. Avoid importing the full operation until exports, roles and billing are understood.

Why does keyword tracking cost more than the phrase count suggests?

SE Ranking's current billing FAQ says the keyword limit uses combinations of keyword × search-engine target. Tracking one phrase in Google US desktop, Google US mobile and Bing is not one unit; it can consume three target combinations.

Model the real configuration:

ScenarioUnique phrasesTargets per phraseConsumed keyword-targets
------:---:---:
One market/device5001500
Desktop + mobile50021,000
Three markets, two devices50063,000

Core's 2,000 allowance covers the first two examples but not the third. Growth's 5,000 still leaves limited correction/expansion capacity for that six-target model. Extra keyword capacity is published from $22.40 Core and $32 Growth, subject to the buyer's region and cadence.

This arithmetic matters more than a feature checklist. Define market, engine, device, frequency and historical needs before choosing a plan.

What are the real Core and Growth limits?

Operating unitCoreGrowth
------:---:
Projects1030
Manager seats13
Data export rows50,000100,000
Report Builder reports1030
Tracked keyword-targets daily2,0005,000

GEO competitive domains515
Audit pages/account/month250,0002,000,000
On-page/SERP checks501,000
Included API credits25,000100,000

Growth also adds project-lifetime historical data, guest links, page-change monitoring and dedicated support. Extra manager seats start at $16 and extra content-article packs at $39.20 on the current page. Local Marketing locations and other add-ons have separate capacity and prices.

Do not assume “unlimited research” means unlimited extraction. The interface may permit extensive keyword, competitor and backlink research while export rows, database expansion, API credits and request rates remain bounded.

Is the AI Search add-on already included?

Base plans include daily AI prompt tracking and GEO competitive research. The live page separately sells an AI Search add-on, shown at $89/month or $71.20 with annual billing, with selectable prompt limits such as 200, 450 or 1,000. It advertises AI Results Tracker across AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and ChatGPT, unlimited competitive research and SE Visible access.

The exact relationship between base-plan prompts, add-on prompts and SE Visible organization limits should be confirmed in checkout and the account. Do not add both allowances without seeing how the dashboard counts them.

For a monthly cost model, include:

`base plan + extra keyword-targets + seats + articles + AI Search + local locations + API overage/custom data`

A broad suite can still be economical, but only if each paid layer replaces a measured need.

What does AI visibility actually measure?

Current product navigation and pricing cover AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity trackers. Base Core and Growth list 100 and 250 prompts tracked daily, five systems, unlimited source tracking and five or 15 competitive-research domains.

SE Visible's API exposes organization-level plan, renewal and remaining projects, prompts and seats. Unlike Data API calls, these limits are not per-request credits. The monitoring layer can show mentions, citations, sentiment and competitive position.

Freeze the exact prompt, locale, engine, date and visible answer. Manually verify whether the brand is mentioned, the domain is cited and the cited source supports the statement. An AI answer can change because the external system changed, not because the site changed. Treat trends as observations until alternatives are investigated.

Current terms explicitly warn that third-party AI services can change or disappear and that output can be inaccurate or outdated. Some features endeavor to disable model training and prompt logging where technically feasible, but the third-party provider controls those practices. That is not a universal zero-retention guarantee.

How do the APIs work and what do they cost?

SE Ranking distinguishes:

  • Data API: raw SEO/GEO data, charged through credits;
  • Project API: workspace/project operations, charged against plan limits;
  • SE Visible API: organization-level project/prompt/seat limits.

One API key can authorize Data and Project endpoint families. Current documentation supports multiple named keys, but the credential remains broad. Separate keys by environment, keep them server-side, rotate them and monitor credit use.

Core includes 25,000 Data API credits monthly; Growth and Enterprise list 100,000. A standalone 14-day API trial includes 100,000 credits and does not require an active main subscription. Endpoint costs vary, so estimate from the endpoint documentation before bulk jobs.

Rate-limit documentation differs by generation/surface: the current unified guide says 10 requests per second, while older Project API material says five and describes escalating temporary blocks. Use the documentation for the exact endpoint/version and implement backoff. Do not average the numbers.

Who owns Content Editor and AI-tracker outputs?

The June 2026 terms define different rights for different outputs.

For Content Editor/AI Writer, SE Ranking recognizes customer ownership and assigns its rights in generated outputs, subject to applicable law and third-party rights. For AI Results Tracker, the terms instead grant a broad but non-transferable, revocable license for commercial, marketing and personal use, with sublicensing or redistribution prohibited without consent.

That distinction matters for agencies delivering reports to clients. Confirm whether the intended report, raw response or derivative can be redistributed and under which module's terms. Do not assume every generated table shares the Content Editor license.

Customer Content remains customer-owned. SE Ranking receives a license needed to provide the service and a perpetual license for content incorporated into Aggregated Statistics. The customer remains responsible for legality, accuracy and rights.

What data should not be entered?

The terms say the service is not designed for sensitive or regulated personal data and prohibit such inputs in relevant AI/visibility tools. The privacy statement explicitly includes prompts, messages, uploads, generated responses, feedback, conversation history and technical metadata as AI interaction data.

Use sanitized content during evaluation. Obtain the current DPA/subprocessor and per-feature AI-provider details before importing confidential material. Public terms acknowledge third-party AI but do not establish one enforceable training/logging rule for every module.

The privacy statement gives data-access, erasure, restriction, portability and objection rights and describes certification under EU-US, UK and Swiss Data Privacy Framework mechanisms. Those are useful legal signals, not a substitute for plan-specific security and retention answers.

What happens if the account becomes inactive?

The terms reserve the right to delete customer projects when an account has not been used for 60 days. They also say the customer—not SE Ranking—is responsible for regular Customer Content backups and recoverability after data loss.

Export is therefore an operating requirement, not an optional convenience. Core/Growth publish 50,000/100,000 export rows, but the buyer should test every required object: projects, keywords/targets, rank history, audits, backlinks, content articles, reports, prompts, answers and account configuration.

Personal-data retention periods do not define the complete product-data lifecycle. Obtain explicit retention/deletion rules for active, canceled and inactive accounts, including backups and AI history.

What unusual contract terms should procurement notice?

SE Ranking's current terms grant a revocable license to use the customer's name, logo and general information about service use—including performance data and outcomes—to identify the customer in marketing, case studies and proposals. A buyer that cannot permit this should ask for an opt-out or amendment.

The contract also places responsibility for Outputs and Customer Content on the customer and limits reliance on generated recommendations. This matches the correct editorial workflow: human review remains mandatory.

Public pages reviewed did not establish every intended-plan assurance detail, encryption scope, SSO/SCIM availability, audit logs, data location or incident SLA. Enterprise buyers should obtain those materials rather than inferring them from a privacy statement.

Who should shortlist SE Ranking?

Shortlist it when the buyer owns the broader SEO operation and can replace separate rank tracking, research, audit, reporting, content and GEO tools. Growth is the more plausible agency tier when three seats, 30 projects, guest links, lifetime history and page monitoring matter.

Choose a narrower tool when the bottleneck is only content optimization or when the team cannot operate the suite's many limits. Compare it directly with NEURONwriter for the focused-editor decision, browse AI SEO software, and map the full stack with the AI SEO content operations guide.

A fail-closed SE Ranking trial

  1. Save regional checkout, currency, tax, cadence, renewal, base limits and every add-on.
  2. Build one representative project with a frozen keyword×target calculation.
  3. Add a fixed prompt set and preserve raw AI answers, citations, locale and engine.
  4. Run one audit, on-page check, content article and report; reconcile every pool.
  5. Test base prompts versus AI Search/SE Visible limits without double-counting.
  6. Use separate API keys for a controlled Data API and Project API action; record credits/limits.
  7. Export every object the team needs and prove that history remains intelligible elsewhere.
  8. Verify Content Editor versus AI Results Tracker output rights for client delivery.
  9. Review customer-name/logo marketing permission and negotiate if necessary.
  10. Resolve AI providers, training/logging, product retention/deletion and security evidence.
  11. Cancel the trial/term through the documented path and record remaining access.
  12. Compare total replaced-tool cost, verified hours saved and evidence quality.

Pass only when the team predicts all recurring units, reproduces monitoring evidence, safely controls API credentials, exports required history and makes stronger decisions with lower total effort. Fail or extend when regional economics remain unclear, prompt evidence cannot be audited, output rights conflict with client delivery or breadth adds more administration than it removes.
