Good fit if

You can prove workflow value

  • The editor reduces research or revision time on a real assignment.
  • The recommendations improve coverage without encouraging repetition.
  • Your team can measure approved output, correction time and total cost.

Look elsewhere if

You only want a score

  • You cannot explain how recommendations affect publishing decisions.
  • Your volume does not justify a recurring subscription.
  • You need independently proven ranking or output-quality gains.

Open the complete Dashword buying analysisReport-credit economics · unlimited scoring · MCP/API automation · page monitoring · contractual gaps

Dashword sells a focused loop: create a country-specific keyword report, turn the competitive evidence into a brief, score drafts repeatedly, then monitor selected published pages. Its strongest commercial distinction is simple: completed reports consume credits; retrieving and scoring do not.

> Distinctive strength: Its credit model charges completed reports while repeated retrieval and scoring remain available, making the paid unit unusually understandable. > > Where it stops being an advantage: A transparent meter does not prove that the brief or score improves the visitor's content decision.

BenPicks has not used a paid Dashword account. We do not claim its recommendations improve rankings, save time or produce better content. This source-led review defines what a buyer can verify and how to test the parts that official material cannot prove.

QuestionSource-led answer
Best fitTeams producing recurring search-led pages and wanting briefs, scoring and API/MCP automation in a compact tool.
Startup cost$99/month: 30 reports, five seats, 100,000 AI-writer words and unlimited scoring.
Business costFrom $349/month: 100 reports, ten seats, bulk reports and SSO.
Free evaluationOne report, no card; API and MCP also work on verified free accounts.
Main metric trapA high content score measures alignment with Dashword's model, not truth, usefulness or ranking.
Main procurement riskPublic security, retention, recovery and contracting-entity documentation is incomplete or inconsistent.

How much does Dashword cost per report?

At the public plan floors:

PlanMonthly priceReportsSubscription cost/report if fully used
------:---:---:
Startup$9930$3.30
Business$349100$3.49

Business is not publicly cheaper per report at its starting point. It is a capacity and governance purchase: more reports/seats, bulk creation and SSO. Dashword also advertises 20% off annual billing via contact.

The useful denominator is not generated reports. Calculate:

`(subscription + AI overage + research review + writing/rework + monitoring operations) ÷ accepted pages`

If a Startup team generates 30 reports but accepts 24 briefs, subscription-only cost becomes $4.13 per accepted brief. At 20 it is $4.95. Those numbers are still small relative to labour, which is why measuring reviewer time matters more than celebrating a low report unit.

The API states that one credit is charged only for a completed report and failed builds are refunded. Retrieval and scoring do not use credits. Public material inspected here does not establish carryover, expiration or refresh accounting, so ask before planning a seasonal calendar or automated weekly regeneration.

Can you try Dashword for free?

Yes, but narrowly: a new verified-email account gets one report without a card. That can confirm the basic interface and API/MCP response shape, but one keyword cannot represent mixed intent, international variation, refresh work and monitoring.

Use the free report on a representative difficult query. If the workflow remains plausible, request a time-bounded paid pilot with enough reports to test both new and declining pages. Do not infer platform-wide quality from the vendor's easiest demo.

What is inside a Dashword report?

Current documentation describes up to 30 ranking pages with rank, title/URL, word count and content score. MCP output can include up to 50 recommended terms, up to 20 questions, a target word count and current ranking pages. The report is country-specific; the API currently lists Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore and United States.

This is competitive-pattern evidence. It answers “what appears in the sampled results now?” It does not establish:

  • that a repeated claim is true;
  • that every competitor serves the user's real decision;
  • that the target length is necessary;
  • that a recommended term belongs in every page;
  • that current winners are the right format for a differentiated answer.

A strategist still needs to exclude irrelevant page types, verify sources and choose an angle. Otherwise the workflow can make a polished imitation of the SERP rather than a better page.

Does Dashword's content score prove readiness to publish?

No. The score API returns a grade, word count, target length, readability and term occurrences against suggested ranges. Free unlimited scoring makes iteration inexpensive, but it also makes score chasing easy.

Create an adversarial test: one draft that is accurate, useful and deliberately concise; another that inserts every recommended term while preserving factual errors and weak decisions. Review both blind before seeing their Dashword scores. If the weaker draft scores higher, define a policy that keeps score below factual/editorial approval.

Dashword's own material often describes A/A+ as an optimization target. Treat that as vendor methodology, not ranking evidence. Rankings also depend on technical accessibility, links, intent, authority, freshness and competition that phrase coverage cannot settle.

Can Dashword build and share content briefs?

Yes. The brief builder lets users select competitor headings, questions, keywords and frequently cited links; change heading levels; add requirements; copy formatted/plain text; create a public link; or export the outline into the editor.

The curation step is essential. A heading appearing on several competitor pages is not automatically useful. A frequently cited link is not automatically authoritative. A question with volume is not automatically the next question your visitor needs answered.

Public sharing deserves separate governance. Dashword's Google Docs add-on requires setting a keyword report to public and pasting its link. Before sharing unreleased claims or client material, verify whether the link is guessable/indexable, revocable, logged and still accessible after cancellation or user removal.

How does the AI Writer affect cost and rights?

Startup lists 100,000 AI-writer words. Business lists AI Writer but no numeric public allowance at its starting price. Ask what model is used, whether regeneration consumes allowance, whether unused words roll over, and what happens when the limit is exceeded.

The terms state that, where law permits and the customer complies, Dashword assigns its rights in generated Output to the customer. They also warn that machine-generated output may not be unique. Customers remain responsible for their Inputs and resulting Content.

That supports commercial use more clearly than a vague feature page, but it is not a copyright warranty, factual guarantee or indemnity. Run plagiarism/source checks and human approval for claims, quotations, brands and regulated advice.

What can the API and MCP server automate?

The HTTPS REST API uses Bearer keys and documents a 60-request-per-minute account limit. It can create, retrieve/list and score reports. Report creation accepts an optional callback URL; Dashword POSTs completion and may retry when it does not receive HTTP 200.

The remote MCP server exposes `create_report`, `get_report`, `list_reports` and `score_content`, with 300 requests/hour per key. This allows Claude, Cursor and other clients to run a brief → draft → score → revise loop without custom integration code.

Automation increases the need for controls. Pilot:

  • key creation, rotation and immediate revocation;
  • separation between test and production keys;
  • duplicate callback delivery and idempotency;
  • callback authenticity/signatures;
  • polling/backoff around the roughly 90-second report build;
  • failed report refunds;
  • rate-limit responses and retry behavior;
  • prevention of endless score-revision loops;
  • logging without storing full confidential drafts.

The API makes a workflow possible; it does not make the workflow governed.

What does Dashword monitoring measure?

Official material distinguishes two page types. Content pages expose content score, keyword rank, weekly organic traffic and traffic trends. Traffic pages expose weekly traffic and trends only. Marketing also says its crawler can import pages and regenerate keyword reports weekly.

Automated-report articles are read-only by default so historical scores remain visible; users create another article when they need an editable update. That can support before/after comparison, but it is not causal proof that a Dashword edit produced traffic change.

Before buying Business for monitoring, confirm:

  • page capacity and which URLs consume it;
  • source and permission scope for traffic data;
  • keyword/location/device model;
  • weekly refresh timing and report-credit impact;
  • canonical, redirect and duplicate handling;
  • alert thresholds and notification channels;
  • history/export on cancellation;
  • reconciliation with Search Console.

Use Search Console as the external reference. A proprietary score or alert should start an investigation, not close it.

What data, security and contract gaps remain?

The terms say Content may be used as necessary to provide and maintain the service, comply with law and enforce policies. They do not publicly specify every AI provider, model-training exclusion or data-residency path. The privacy page is largely website-focused and provides no numeric product-content/backup retention schedule.

Business lists SSO, but the inspected public sources did not establish SCIM, granular roles, approval permissions, customer audit logs, SOC 2/ISO scope, penetration testing, incident notice, SLA, RTO or RPO. Pricing says cancelled customers retain access to their data but cannot generate new reports; complete bulk export and deletion certification remain procurement questions.

There is also a legal-text inconsistency: the Terms introduction names Issoudun Pte. Ltd., while subscription and content clauses name Dashword OÜ. Confirm the actual contracting entity and data controller in the order form/DPA.

These gaps do not prove weak controls. They prove that public evidence is not enough for a sensitive workflow.

Who should shortlist Dashword?

Shortlist it if:

  • you need a compact report/brief/scoring workflow rather than a broad SEO suite;
  • 30 or 100 monthly reports match real accepted-page volume;
  • API/MCP automation is valuable and your team can govern agents;
  • free repeated scoring supports—but does not replace—editorial review;
  • supported country coverage matches your markets;
  • monitoring is useful after validation against Search Console.

Look elsewhere or combine tools if you need deep technical/backlink research, unsupported countries or languages, fully documented enterprise assurance, sophisticated approval/version workflows, or a system that publishes autonomously.

Compare the workflow directly with Content Harmony, inspect the broader AI SEO category, and use the content-optimizer evaluation guide to build a product-neutral scorecard.

How should you evaluate Dashword reproducibly?

  1. Select two new pages and two decaying pages across at least two supported countries.
  2. Preserve a manual research/brief control and the exact search date.
  3. Blind-review manual versus Dashword briefs for useful decisions, factual sources, noise and missing intent.
  4. Have writers use both; record clarification questions, rejected recommendations and edit time.
  5. Score an accurate concise draft and a weak term-stuffed draft to test metric gaming.
  6. Create one report through UI, API and MCP; test failure refund, rate limits, callback duplicates and key revocation.
  7. Set one report public for the minimum time necessary; test revocation and access after role/cancellation changes.
  8. Reconcile monitoring traffic/rank signals with Search Console and controlled page changes.
  9. Recalculate cost with 25% and 50% report/rework growth plus human labour.
  10. Require written data, security, SLA, identity, retention and exit answers before production approval.

The pass condition is not an A+ score. It is fewer research and revision decisions for humans to repeat, with accurate content, controlled automation and independently reconcilable monitoring.
